Enthusiastic individuals working in the field of Foundations of Artificial Intelligence are sought to make a major contribution to the Department’s activities in research and teaching. You will hold a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related discipline. You will have an outstanding academic record, with indicators such as impactful publications in peer-reviewed venues, significant software artefact design and implementation, and academic awards within the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will have a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
This is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s most successful Computer Science departments and to be part of an exciting time of growth in the Department. We are looking for candidates especially in the following areas within the Foundations of AI theme:
• Statistical learning & deep learning theory.
• Robust & probabilistic ML.
• Generative AI.
• Causal AI.
• Reinforcement learning and bandit theory.
• Federated learning & multi-agent systems.
• Foundations of responsible AI & explainable AI.
Applications will be considered on their merits, and for both the roles of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
