Senior Chinese Editor & Production Manager (Full-time)
We’re looking for a meticulous, efficient and highly literate individual to take up the role of Senior Chinese Editor and Production Manager at Macao News.You will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of all Chinese-language content we produce. Your primary responsibilities will include translating and editing content from English to Chinese, as well as serving as the in-house Chinese language expert. Beyond these core duties, you will also support the English-language editorial and video teams in various production-related capacities, such as liaising with and interpreting for Chinese-speaking interviewees, pre-production planning, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the production process, especially when a Chinese speaker is required.This is an opportunity for a driven, versatile individual to play a pivotal role in the growth of one of the Greater Bay Area’s most exciting media platforms. - Provide translation services from English to Chinese-language, including interview transcripts, video subtitles, articles, correspondence, marketing material and any other documents as required
- Provide interpretation during interviews and meetings with Chinese speakers
- Provide editing and proofreading of Chinese-language content to enhance quality, clarity, and consistency for both in-house use and client materials
- Research updated industry terminology, technical language, and cultural references to enhance the authenticity of Chinese content
- Conduct research on a wide range of topics in Chinese to support the English-language editorial and video teams
- Assist Macao News in securing interviews and liaising with Chinese speakers
- Fact-check information, statistics and claims in Chinese-language content
- Native Cantonese and/or Mandarin speaker
- At least 5 years of experience as a professional editor, with a strong track record of editing Chinese-language content
- Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial standards
- Demonstrated ability to write a wide range of content ranging from print, digital, social media, marketing and news
- Strong communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
